It helps me psychologically fit into the culture i'm in, instead of remaining isolated in my western music. I tend to buy local tapes and listen to those on a casette player instead. But more so,i've found that my favourite music just does'nt sound the same when i'm in a foriegn culture. The wind in your hair, and the "Raiders March" from Raiders of the Lost Ark,playing away.hehehe. It can be great speeding along in the back of an open backed pickup through mountains.

And I could then read MP`s sleeve notes :-) "The Traveling Wilburys" for one, certainly. Keola & Kapono Beamer - Honolulu City Lights. Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass - Christmas Album. If I were going to be in the Tall Tules, I'd probably pick instrumental works. Staying in a more urban locale, I'd probably stick to more popular/urban music. I think it depends on where I would be traveling.
